Walks - Sat. Jan. 17 - Wed. Jan. 21

Winter & water walks

Join us on Saturday at 8:00 am at Tim's. This is a great time of year to come out and begin again....if you have wandered a bit off the path. Any distance is good, especially in the winter months. No pressure; just friendship....so please join us. Some will likely do up to 10; most will do less. Most will have coffee and chat after. It's all good.

Mid week walks on Monday and Wednesday - day time group knows to check in with each other. Evening group please check the blog. Loblaws (Monday) and Occasions (Wednesday) - both nights are weather permitting. We sometimes change the time and/or the location, so wise to check before heading out.

A very special thanks to Dawn for hosting and feeding us last Saturday. It was lovely - lots of conversation and food and friends to share it with.

Best wishes to Margie and Rainer who are at the Bermuda triangle this weekend! We are all envious of their trip to warmer climes.

Announcements from Libby: Remember to sign up for Harry’s Spring Run-off. We plan to race together as a team in support of Ian Brown but you will sign in as an individual.
Let me know of any races you sign up for.
I will be walking 10K Sunday as required for Big Sur schedule. If anyone wishes to join me, let me know when and where to meet.

Walks - Sat. Jan. 1- Wed. Jan. 14

Now there's a challenging question....

Saturday promises to be a chilly one so dress warmly and join us.
Option 1 - Dawn has offered her house as the starting point, so I suggest that we do a short quick walk (or a long quick walk) and return to her place for breakfast. Let's meet at 8:00 am. Dawn needs to know if you are coming to her place by 9:00 am on Friday. Thanks Dawn for hosting us - we're a hungry bunch!

Option 2 - meet at Tim's if that is your preferred spot at 8:00 am.
Sign the blog to let others know your intended location.

Mid week walks - day timers check in with each other. Evening walkers meet at 7:00 pm - Monday at Loblaws and Wednesday at Shoppers (I think that's the preferred location). Please sign in so others know if you'll be out.

Announcements - from Dawn - TKO's brunch is Feb. 1. The cost is $18 payable to Charlotte, as soon as possible - cheque, please. Thanks for helping, Charlotte with this event.  Join us - promises to be a fun and friendly food festivity.

Two Announcements re: breakfast and brunch

Next Saturday - Starting from Dawn's

I don't post more than once a week but I had a special request from Dawn.

1. On Saturday 9th January, our starting point (for those who are interested) will be from Dawn’s house at 8.00.   Please decide your distance and route and on your return, I will have coffee and breakfast for people.   No thanks, I don’t need anything.   Please email Dawn at dawn.henville@sympatico.ca before 9.00 am on Friday 8th so that I have numbers.  Also, my driveway is available for parking!!

2. TKO’s Brunch on Sunday 1st February, at 10.00.   Cost the same as last year, $18.   Charlotte is collecting so please give her as soon as possible so that we will know the numbers.    She will be present walking, I think, for the next three weeks.
last year's TKO's brunch

We're glad you have returned, Dawn. Thanks for organizing & hosting.

Glam Santa

Happy New Year to all - may it be healthy and filled with the joy of family and friends and things that matter....like walking with friends.

Join us Saturday at 8:00 am at Tim's and let's try to walk off some of the season's delightful calories....some of which have found their way to my hips (again). The distance is whatever suits you, especially if it is cold, although Libby needs to do 10 km - company is welcomed.  It is a perfect time to join in, if you have be absent for awhile. We'd love to see you Sat.

Monday and Wednesday for the mid-week walks will be mornings (this group knows where & when) or evenings at 7:00 pm (Monday - Loblaws; Wed. - Shopper's?). Wed. is also Doc Soup so some will be absent. Check the blog before heading out.

Announcements from Norma: Results from today's Hair of the Dog Race at Balmy Beach Club - 3 Shore Things competed; Norma, Rainer & David
- Rainer came first in men's power walking category; David second.
- Norma came in first-women's power category finishing 9k in 72 minutes
Overall race participation was small - either due to cold temps or too much drinking the night before!  Congratulations to our 3 stars!
from Rainer: Robbie Burns 8 km Road Race - Jan 25, 2015-36th Anniversary - sign up and have a goal to get you out in Jan.

from Libby: Hear ye, hear ye...Olwyn, Cheryl, Eva and Trish have all committed to a batch of races- Robbie Burns, Harry’s, Yonge street 10K,Corning Half, and Niagara Women’s to name a few. Well done ladies!!
Margy and Rainer are off soon for their Bermuda Triangle so the group is off to a racing start for 2015.

This sounds like a challenge to get the rest of us off the couch.

Please join us Sat and start the New Year off right! Sign in on the blog.
