Brunch buddies

Join us on April Fools day, at Tim's at 8:00 am - distance options are many - except for those training.  Diva ladies need to do 12 kms on the weekend; 10 km each of two mid week walks. Susan and Libby are scheduled to do 14 km on Sunday - join them if you are interested.

Mid week walks remain the same - week days are organized through Dawn. Mid week evening walks are on Monday (Loblaws) and Wednesday (Occasions) at 6:30 pm. Now that the days are longer, our mid week evening start time could shift back to 7:00 pm the following week - let us know your preference.

It is Doc Soup night on Wednesday, so some of us will be missing in action.

Announcements:  The Beaches Spring Fling is this weekend.   Make us proud, Rainer!  This event may make the boardwalk much busier than normal - we may prefer an alternate route.

Many thanks to Dawn for organizing our brunch - was a delicious way to spend Sunday morning - great food and lots of good friends. Our thanks to TKOs for all their work to ensure that we were well fed.

Thanks Dawn - greatly appreciated

Walks - Saturday March 25 - Wednesday March 29

Check out those medals!
Join us on Saturday at Tim's at 8:00 am for a walk - the distance is yours to determine. Just do it!

However, the Diva ladies should be walking 10K for their long distance this week. During the week- another 10K and 8 k walks are scheduled. Sounds manageable.

Sunday morning walkers gather at 8:30 am at the Running Room on Queen St.
Mid-week day time walkers connect through Dawn - she has the meeting spot and time and day.
Mid week evening walkers meet at 630 pm on Monday (at Loblaws) and Wednesday (at Occasions).

The weather is warmer; the days are getting longer; time to get outside.

Announcements:
Sunday is our Shorethings brunch at TKOs - or as Henry said, "the flocking of the Shore Birds". Gather at 10:30. I can almost smell the bacon already. Many thanks to Dawn for organizing this annual event. And, thanks to Charlotte for managing the collection of money.

My thanks to Helen for doing the blog in my absence.

The Beaches Spring Sprint sign up at Balmy Beach Club is March 28, 29 and 30th. A short friendly local race for any interested parties.  Why not sign up?

Thursday 16 March 2017

Walks: Sat. March 18 to Wed. March 22

A walk with friends, then coffee after? Priceless.
From Libby:

Training this weekend starts for the Diva Half racers (June 11 on the Islands) – that's Olwyn, Helen, Eva and Kim so far! (Any others tempted by tutus and boas?) It's an easy 8K on Saturday, with 6K and 8K required during the week.

The Uxbridge Halfers are still travelling/just returning home, so no need to post distances.

Reminder: This week (Wednesday) starts the sign-up for the Beaches Spring Sprint to be held April 1. Just a 5K run/walk for a $25 fee, in our usual walking nabe. Registration's in person (info in link above) by cash or cheque.

Welcome back world travellers, and get well quick anyone who (like me) are sick or on the mend. Come one, come all ye able-bodied for our last Saturday walk of the winter. Looks like spring might have decided to come out of hiding.

P.S. If anyone would like a complimentary ticket to Canada Blooms/Home Show, Helen has five to give away. First come, first served. Show's on till Sunday.

Walks: Sat. March 11 to Wed. March 15

Those Wednesday morning gals, looking colourful
Sorry, everyone! Between a bad cold and Canada Blooms commitments, I let my first post for Susan get away from me. Here's a quick late post to let everyone sign in for tomorrow.

Uxbridge Half and Goodlife Half both have 16K on the schedule for Saturday. The rest of us might choose something a bit shorter. Monday and Wednesday, the training distances are 10K and 8K for both, respectively.

Any distance is better than no distance. (Unless you're volunteering at Canada Blooms, like me.) Please sign in to let people know if you'll be out. I can't stress how useful this is!

Race notes from Libby:
Congrats to Eva for committing to the Diva Half race in June to keep Olwyn company [Ed: And now we can add Helen and Kim to that list!]. Ladies, your race training begins next weekend with a mere 8K scheduled.
With spring around the corner, do consider a short local race (options include Uxbridge, Sporting Life, Race Roster and Whitby) to keep us moving!
As usual, please let me know if any races of interest you have signed up for! Arlene and I are still looking for company for the Army Half in September!
And, on that point, from Rainer:
The Beach Spring Sprint is just around the corner ... nice fun event with a BBQ on deck of the Balmy Beach Club ... separate walker start ...

Another local race to consider!

Walks - Saturday March 4 - Wednesday March 8

Wednesday Women

Join us on Saturday at Tim's at 8:00 am - it may be a tad nippy!  The distance is whatever distance you choose to go...just get outside and walk.

Those training for the Good Life half (Arlene and Elaine) need to do 14 km and then 10 and 8 during the week.

Other walking options:
1. Sunday morning at 8:30 am at the Running Room on Queen St.
2. Evenings at 6:30 pm - Monday (Loblaws) and Wednesday (Occasions).
3. Daytime Wednesday walkers (and what a fine looking group they are) connect through Dawn regarding time and place.
Please sign in - it helps others to know your plans.

Announcements:  Congratulations to Sharon on becoming a Grandma. Please bring photos...

from Libby: Only a few people have signed up for races this year so the race coordinator has a slow job! Anyone interested in signing up for half marathon or full- please let Libby know. Remember, the endurance of training keeps us healthy and more importantly, strengthens our bones! There is still time to sign up for spring and fall races both locally and afar!

Libby was kind enough to add: happy trails and safe travels to Susan and Ruth who are heading off on their hiking (and travel) adventure. We know you are going to love those hills.

To those travelling, safe travels and enjoy - we look forward to hearing stories about your adventures.
To those injured or ill, take care - we miss you.

My thanks to Helen who will be doing the blog for the next two weeks while I'm away.
