Walks: Saturday, August 14 to Thursday, August 19

Chilling on his pad. Not doing the Michigan Rag.

Hello again!

The last few days were particularly hot, and thankfully, there may be a slight cooling for the weekend, but still feel like the high 20s to 30s as we move into next week, thanks to humidity. Remember to hydrate well, like our little green friend above. Also consider shadier routes and early starts as the mornings are much less intense.

This Saturday, we meet at Loblaws for a walker's-choice distance. Please sign in to let the gang know you'll be there! Post walk, we typically gather at the picnic tables just east of Loblaw's entrance if it's not too hot and sunny, or on the grass verge near Starbucks for shade.

Weekday walks are gradually expanding, with mornings a preference for retirees and flexible workday people, and some evenings for those with daily commitments. Please leave a comment in the blog if you want to join up with any of the weekday groups.

Thanks to Lou-Ann for the pics this week and a link to a great CNN Health feature on the benefits of walking.

Another great thing about walking -- you can easily control the intensity level.

I'll be out for 8am at Loblaws. I am wondering if we should consider the Cherry Beach route for a little more shade?
