Walks - Sat. Dec. 21 - Wed. Dec. 23

Are you able to correctly identify these Santas?
(I couldn't)

We're down to the final few walks of 2015. I urge you to come out on Saturday at 8:00 am at Tim's. Let's get a few more kms completed before year end.  Yes, walking on the beach in Cuba or Jamaica or wherever counts too.

This time of year is busy, I know, but here are the mid-week walks, just in case you are able to get out for a 7:00 pm stroll.  Monday (Loblaws) and Wednesday (Occasions). Please check the blog. Some people will have vacation during the next couple of weeks and they may suggest a day time walk.  Options may be suggested on the blog - please add yours.

Announcements/updates: from Olwyn: It was a perfect day for the Santa Suit 5k; in fact, we Santa’s were overdressed! Over 2000 racers; lots of walkers, a really fun race; well supported, no time limit; we even did some shopping when we came into the finish line! Good fun!
from Susan - is anyone interested in a challenge - I mentioned a few ideas. Ruth, Deanna and ......(your name goes here!) could likely be talked into 2016 km in 2016. It is healthy challenge and I suspect a few others are tempted......I'm in for sure. You?

from Libby - I think race interest will pick up with New Year's resolutions. Let Libby know if you are entertaining entering a race. Robbie Burns Race on January 25th  is only 8K and with this mild winter, the route should be very tolerable!. Great oatmeal breakfast at the finish and 27 walker spots remaining!
Safe travels to several of you.

Enjoy; celebrate the best of the season; happy holidays to all (especially those who will not be walking Saturday.)
What a fun event!

I have been cleared for a return to walking (slowly). That being said I won't be out this Saturday - have a date with some Christmas baking. I am heading for Vancouver on the 23rd and hope the weather improves so I can get some walking in. I will return to Saturday mornings on the 8th of January. And yes I have registered for Robbie Burns. Wishing everyone the very best for the holiday season and a Very Happy New Year.

Wonderful News from you Trish..Have a great holiday in Vancouver and we look forward to seeing you in January. I will add your name to Robbie Burns list..Any others???

As to the challenge. I suggest a different challenge and will post on the blog next week. The training schedule for the half marathon has us walking 356 km in about 3 months. If we extrapolate this to a monthly/weekly mileage for the year, we should walk 130 K/ month and just over 4 K per day. I think this is a reasonable challenge most of us could manage with vacation/work/family obligations and I would be willing to try for this. It would work out to 1550 in rounded figures for the year. I know it would push me to walk - outside is best and certainly keep us motivated for basic fitness. Any interest in this challenge? I am happy to post a spread sheet for tracking . Also thinking of a reward!? I do like the 2016 in 2016 but I know I would not manage this distance with other commitments.
See you Saturday at Tim's

Lovely Santas, all of you!! And it will be great to have you out again, Trish.

I won't be out until the 8th either as I'm away from tomorrow. And, sorry, I can't think about any challenge other than getting myself packet and out the door...... Maybe later.

Merry Christmas And all the best for 2016.

Trish, I'm really happy to hear you have the (cautious) all-clear. Let us know when you want to start your evening walks from the Coxwell Starbucks. I'll be out to support you!

I remember getting sick for a few weeks, then having some trips while trying to do the 2012 in 2012 Challenge. I made up the difference by the end of the year by sheer force of will, but by the time I was finished I never wanted to walk again. Libby, your Fifteen-Fifty challenge seems a little more manageable. I'm sure we can think of a reward.

Bob and I will be out on Saturday. If we don't see you then, have a happy holiday, however you celebrate it and wherever you are!

Such good news Trish! I won't be out in the morning; have to take kitty to the vet first thing, she's been nibbling on the Christmas tree and ribbon! If I don't see you before the holiday, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

Also, as far as I know, there is also a walk from Loblaws at 7:00 pm, Monday.

Lots of choice - please let others know your plans.

Hiya,
I am not able to walk on Saturdays right now with my schedule but I am walking!!! I would love to do the Hair of the Dog, who else might do it? I could not register on line today for some reason. I will keep trying.
I am also interested in doing the 2016k challenge, is there someone I can talk to about this on the old phone?
Hope all are well and that everyone has a wonderful Christmas!!!

Light sprinkle of rain - we're deciding at 8:30 am if we will walk - seems like it will be ok - I'll confirm at 8;30.
I'm expecting Deanna, Sylvia, Ruth and me - anyone else?

Unfortunately, Loblaws is a little out of the way for us at the moment. And I'm still stuck with work to finish before Xmas, anyway. So have a Happy Christmas, everyone!
