Walks: Sat-Wed, May 11 to 15

Ruth, Sharon, Libby and rainbow at the start of the Cincinnati Flying Pig
Our two-sided Cincinnati Flying Pig medals with the curly pigtail (long wished-for by some; I name no names) came with a certain amount of hardship. Rain, hills, hills, more hills, even more hills and, for a very select few, long lines, a missed flight and a larcenous cab driver. But it was worth it.

Saturday, the Niagara racers get into the home stretch with 16K. I have a feeling you've talked amongst yourselves to decide when or where to meet, so please share with us on the comments. Everyone else, it's freestyle! Set your own pace and distance.

Monday and Wednesday, it's 10K and 10K for Niagara; 8K and 5K for Dublin (following Libby's revised version of the training schedule now posted on the blog).

Wishing all the mums and moms in our group a happy Mother's Day. We deserve it!

I know for sure that Cheryl, Ellen, Eva, Cynthia, Olwyn,Ralph and myself are doing the Sporting Life 10k on Sunday. I'm sure there are others right Ruth? To get our 16k, we are planning on walking over to Balzacs at the Distillery District for coffee after the race. It's 4.5 to 4.9k depending on route. By kinder math that's 16K. Please let us know if we should look for you at the finish line. Happy Mother's Day to all.

Trish, I love your math!! I'll look for you all at the finish line - just us and 27,000 of our closest friends.

Congratulations to Sharon, who had a PB at Cincinnati (despite the 3 mile hill). To say nothing of getting a kiss from the chef at one of the restaurants we went to.

I'm planning a shorter walk Saturday morning starting at 8:00 from Tim's.

Love that pink and blue sky photo, Helen!

Sounds like it was a true grit race and trip!

I'll be at Tim's Saturday at 7:30 am for 16 km.

As of now, no rain forecast for Saturday - yay!

Congrats to the Flying Piggies; sounds like it was quite a trip for some! And Happy Mother's day to all you Mums out there! I'll be with the Sporting Life crew on Sunday morning, and yes it is a big group this year. Great photo Helen; looks like the trip was worth it for the rainbow alone!

Arlene and I will be out for a slow walk at 8. I am doing Sporting Life Sunday- a Mom and Daughter team! Need to save my tired feet for Sunday.

I'm with the 8 AM group. And, HAPPY MOTHER'S to all deserving women! If you have nurtured anyone in your lifetime, you are a Mom.

My thanks to Helen for her enthusiasm to do the Flying Pig. It was a blast! I truly enjoyed ever moment (all those hills, our lucky rainbow and crossing over to Kentucky and back). I also had two fine room mates and driving companions (Libby and Ruth). Our drive to CIncinnati was perfect. The weather, the traffic and twelve minutes to cross the border at Windsor! I did do a personal best by loping off 4 minutes and I did get a hug from the chef at the restaurant (more like I gave him a hug for providing a delicious meal of wild boar and pasta).

This is one race that I highly recommend. I would do it again and I don't say that often.
