Walks: Sat-Wed, March 30 to April 3

A beautiful day in our neighbourhood
Easter Weekend, and we have some options. The first is whether or not to do 16K or 10K on Saturday, as per the two ongoing race schedules. Your choice, as always, but sign in to declare.

Monday and Wednesday (Wednesday is a Doc Soup night), the distances are: 8K and 8K, both days, both groups. As always on a long weekend, a Monday morning walk is an option. Last time we had a fine day walk from Tim's 2, there was a problem getting enough seats. Who can suggest another venue? If you'd prefer to walk in the evening, sign in to ask for company.

Happy Easter, Happy Birthday to Sheila and a happy long weekend. Bring on the sunshine!

Wednesday 20 March 2013

Walks: Sat-Wed, March 23 to 27

Yes, she's excited to be home – and we're happy she's here
We're glad to welcome Jan (and, of course, Ray) back into our midst. Tonight, Denise, Jan and I did a brisk 8K for the first day of spring. It felt good.

Saturday, the race trainees have 13K on their schedule. 13K? Already? Apparently so. If the weather is fine, the boardwalk or spit might be our best bets.

Monday it's 8K and Wednesday it's 10K. (And a heads-up that the following Saturday, which is Easter weekend, the trainees have, gasp, 16K… and the Niagara Falls racers begin their training schedule in earnest with 10K. Let's think ahead to how we want to burn off a few chocolate eggs.)

Wishing those celebrating Passover a joyous festival. And to all Shore Things, a happy spring!

Walks: Sat-Wed, March 16 to 20

At the Lighthouse
A very quick post – I hope you'll forgive any omissions – to give you somewhere to sign in for 10K on Saturday, and 6K and 8K on Monday and Wednesday, respectively.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all Irish and would-be Irish, and a happy birthday to Ian.

Good news: Jan and Ray have seats on a flight home on Saturday. Welcome back, weary travellers!

Walks: Sat-Wed, March 9 to 13

Yes, we are a group of well-balanced individuals!
Great walk last week for those who met at High Park, but this Saturday we return to our home grounds at Tim's. Those training for the May 5th race(s) have 11K on their schedule. Everyone else, come out and do your own thing. The later race schedules haven't kicked in yet.

Race trainees, Monday it's 8K and Wednesday it's 6K. Being March Break, those who are off might prefer to do a morning walk. Please sign in to suggest when and where you'll be.

Congratulations to the Chilly Half racers, especially to Arlene and Rainer who were each first in their age category. To give you an idea how tough the field was this year, our speed demon Ruth (with a blazing time of 2:40) finished 12th (that's twelfth) amongst walkers. Pretty darned crazy.

A reminder to the Ireland planning group that we will be meeting at Barbara's on Sunday at 1 pm. Bring all your ideas, brochures, and brogue. Or come even if you're still sitting on the fence.

We have big groups doing some upcoming races. It's always more fun that way. Check our Interests List to see what the cool kids are doing. Please let Dawn know if she should add your name to a race.

Mary, we haven't seen you in a while, but that won't stop us from wishing you a hap-hap-happy birthday!
