Walks: Xmas Eve, Boxing Day & Wed. Dec. 27

The Disney Trio powers to their 38K finish
Let's gather on Christmas Eve at 8 am for pre-feast calorie burning, 8K max. We'll think in awe of our three Disney-bound gals doing their last 21K before the big race(s). For those who can't make it Saturday, have a very Merry Christmas and a belated Happy Hanukkah. We also send birthday wishes out to Brette.

If you feel like a walk on Boxing Day, let's follow our tradition of a morning holiday walk: 6K starting at 9:30 am from the Tim Hortons on Gerrard at Victoria Park (near Loblaws). Sign in if you're interested.

For the Resolution 5K, Trish is organizing a car pool. Race kit pick-up starts Thursday. Bob & I will be going -- email me your race confirmation if you'd like us to get your kit. There's also race-day pick-up, 7:30-9 am.

We can have our blue jackets embroidered: $14 +HST for front and back, just like our vests. If you'd like a hat you already own embroidered, it's $5 if done at the same time as the jackets. Let me know if you're in.

Lee Scott has sent out another challenge: “2012 in 2012”  Here's what she says about it:
"It’s a challenging, yet achievable goal for any healthy adult. Walking 2,012 kilometres in one year. It averages out to a little over 5k each day. For those who include a longer training walk of, say, 10k each weekend, you would need 7.17k on each of four additional days or 5.74k on each of 5 additional days."
Some of us are thinking seriously of taking up this banner in 2012. If you didn't get Lee's Wow Powerwalking newsletter for December, let me know and I'll forward it to you for the details.

And, to convince you further, check out this great link from Rainer: http://youtu.be/aUaInS6HIGo

For anything I've forgotten, and there's sure to be something, check the comments. Happy holidays, however you celebrate them!

Helen, please count me in for the embroidery on both hat and jacket. I would like to buy one of your new green hats if possible. Will give first grabs to those who don't have a hat and want one embroidered.
Thanks for all the responses for Resolution Run. Think we are well organized.
Won't be out Saturday and will let you know about Boxing Day.
Mery Christmas and Happy Hannukah to all.

I will be at tim's on Saturday morning - not sure about Monday morning.

Regarding Lee's challenge - don't know where she gets these bright ideas - I am so daunted by the concept, I think I should save myself for the year 3000 challenge!!!!!

Excellent link sent by Rainer. Thanks helen for sending it on.

I would love to have our logo put on my jacket and a green hat.

Best of luck to the Disney group. Sorry I can't join you - I'll be i Jamaica.

FOR THOSE WALKING WEDNESDAY:

Two morning walks are afoot for this week, if you're still on holiday:

Wednesday at 9 am from Helen & Bob's.
Thursday at 10 am from Lou-Ann's.

Everyone welcome to either/both.

I hope everyone has had a great holiday. I am in desperate need of a walk, so will be out both Wednesday and Thursday. I think I will take Lee up on her challenge - I know it will be hard, but I'm imagining just how good it will feel a year from now...
Helen, I'd like to have my Resolution Run jacket embroidered please. What are your new green hats? I love having new gear, so if possible, I'm in! See you Wednesday morning.

Aw, geez. These wrap-around weeks have me confused. I forgot to send a very big birthday wish out to Brette! Happy day, girl.

It was my intention to come out for a walk on Wednesday morning but I have been slammed by a "bug" that won't let me sleep and other things.

For those who brave the cold and freezing rain tomorrow, it goes without saying, please be very careful.

Will see you Saturday morning for the Resolution.

Unless it's freezing rain, I plan to be at Helen's on Wed at 9am. If I change my mind I'll call Helen and Bob.

Bob & I forgot that we would be across town on Tuesday night. If we are a bit late, hang in because we do want to walk. If the roads are unsafe due to ice, however, perhaps we should all rethink our plans. Check this space tomorrow/Tuesday morning.

Helen said...

Safely back home, but if our street is anything to go by, the roads are treacherously icy. We might be best to wait till Thursday at Lou-Ann's.

Won't be walking today, hoping to get to Lou-Ann's tomorrow morning.
For those who brave this weather, be safe.

I'll see you all tomorrow at Lou Ann's.

Wow, what did Stacey say?! Helen, I'd love to have my Res Run jacket, and green hat embroidered. I'll see everyone at Helen and Bob's on Sat morning, to drive folks to the race; won't be staying around too long after, though. Sharon; hope you're feeling better! I'm working this week, so won't be out tonight (Wed) or Thursday morning; so please walk for me!

I won't be at Lou Ann's on Thursday, but look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday for the race. I would be happy to host coffee and croissants after the race at my place, while we say goodbye to 2011.

My post that was deleted was a duplicate - I thought it would just go away if I deleted it, but alas, it just looks like I had to be censored! I have two e-mail accounts and they both want to publish my posts. This is too confusing...see you all on Saturday morning at Helen and Bob's.

Happy new year Everyone! I feel like I'm a repeat as I did a post yesterday but just now noticed it didn't show up!? I wonder where it went? So...I've signed up for Lee Scott's challenge....I'm planning to walk home from work on Mon's and Wed's for the winter months (leaving from Univ and College around 5pm if anyone is interested)and joining you all on Sat's. Helen....I'd like my Res Jacket embroidered please. I missed the hat discussion so not sure if I'm too late to order? Also I'm wondering if anyone is up for doing a local marathon in the fall of 2012? And my biggest question....is anyone up for doing the Camino in fall of 2013? alexis
