Monday 225th and Wednesday 27th July walks

Happy group of Shore Things - before we started.......
Beautiful day, beautiful route, well organized event.    But, the heat was  merciless.    Lots of nice shaded areas, but also lots of open meadows with sun beating down.    A few of us (Dawn included) did not do the whole route, being wise enough to recognize when we were not feeling too well.    Others did the whole route, including the final hill.   Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of that hill as I didn't get there.

One of the many hills - but beautiful.
Monday and Wednesday, according to the schedule for the actual Run for the Toad, are 5 - 7k with intervals.     The morning walkers will start from Lee-Ann's house at 7.30 am.   Please bring your bathing suits.    Please sign in as to whether you'll be joining the morning or evening groups.   Evening groups will be leaving from the usual places.

That last hill should not be called a hill but rather the wall!
Short but straight up. Those doing the Toad in Oct will need lots of hill training.Scenery definately takes your mind off things.
Hope to be out in the early morning Wed. Monday is a maybe - if I can wake up without the alarm.

Great group photo, Dawn! Definitely worthy of next year's Shore Things calendar.

It was a good day, despite the heat. A challenging course, but we did it, and as Dawn says, great company.

I'll be at Lou-Ann's Monday at 7:30am...already dreaming about the post-walk dip in the pool!

Had a wonderful day at the training for the "toad". A beautiful park and the company was equally beautiful, even as sweaty as they were!

I will be at Lou-Ann's place (not Lee-Ann's) on Monday, hope you will be too!

Thank you Dawn for all the organizing today!

It appears that the woman with the pool has had a name change. What the heck - I'll be there on Monday morning, whoever she is.

Blame it on the heat. We only cooled our feet in the lake not our brains.

Come October we will have our work cut out for us. The trail was beautiful, much like walking on the Bruce Trail but faster. Admittedly, walking through the meadow without shade and with the blazing sun was brutal. That was a long 3 km. The hill at the end wasn't so bad but it probably will be the second time around.

Thank you to everyone for a great day yesterday, especially to Dawn for her organizational skills.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, on average, we are down to three people. If no on else will be coming out in the evenings for awhile, Maureen and I thought that we would stay close to home to do our training.

We'll keep checking the blog.

I will be out on Monday a.m.
Now I remember why I had to be phsyically pushed up Skeleton Hill on the second lap 2 years ago!
Great day yesterday, and thought we all looked great in our Shore Things gear.
This morning I chose the serenity of gardening whilst Rainer(aka "the maniac") went to Whitby and did his pb for a 5k)

I will be out for the early Monday walk from Lou-Ann's and a dip in the pool afterwards. I am still hot from the Toad yesterday. Yikes. Thanks, Dawn for herding us cats.

Dawn - thank you for all of the organizing you did so that we could have such a great day at the toad. And thanks everyone for sharing the hills, heat, and laughs. I'll be out on Monday and Wednesday mornings, but will only have time for a short swim on Monday - I have a doctor's appointment at 10:30.

I think Mary and I will likely stick to our early morning routine for this week given the temperatures and the work schedule. Denise of course is on her South African adventure....Alisa

I'm going back to bed - I don't really want to walk in thunder and lightning...

I'm also passing on the walk this Monday morning, due to thunder and rain.

Lou-Ann, sorry I could not let you know earlier. My Internet was down and I just called Rogers and they helped get it back. Didn't want to phone in case I woke up the rest of the family!

If it clears up I'll walk tonight.

Hope to see you Wednesday morning!

I won't be out this Monday (we have an anniversary to celebrate!) and unfortunately I can't make it Wed either.
The group shot of the Toad people looked great with everyone in their S.T.'s t-shirts!

We're leaving for St John's tomorrow, so I won't be around until the first Sat in August. Hope everyone is enjoying the summer so far. Lou-Ann, I'm sure going to miss the pool and the company, but will see all of you in a couple of weeks, then it's training in earnest for the KW.
