Props with twinkle lights on to Sheila and Bob for being tonight's only hard-asses! (And I say this from behind a laptop that may soon be permanently grafted to my fingers.)
Let's hope we get a better showing for Saturday. That's showing, not snowing. With luck, the predicted weather warnings will have abated. If not, oh, what a perfect weekend for a long drive to Quebec. Know anyone like that?
Here's what EnviroCanada's weather warning says. You can thank me for the paragraph breaks; blame them for the caps. I say nothing of the content:
MOTHER NATURE IS STRIKING SOUTHERN ONTARIO WITH A SERIES OF WINTER STORMS. THE FIRST ONE WAS RELATIVELY TAME: 10 CENTIMETRES LAST NIGHT WITH VERY LITTLE WIND.
ON FRIDAY A FAST-MOVING BUT DYNAMIC STORM WILL HAVE EMERGED FROM COLORADO AND WILL RACE CLOSE TO THE LOWER GREAT LAKES.
HEAVY SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN IN SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO THURSDAY NIGHT REACHING THE GREATER TORONTO REGION JUST BEFORE DAWN ON FRIDAY MORNING. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF 15 TO 20 CENTIMETRES ARE WIDELY EXPECTED ACROSS MUCH OF THE LOWER GREAT LAKES BY FRIDAY EVENING.
STRONG EAST WINDS OF 40 GUSTING AT TIMES TO 60 KM/H WILL DEVELOP THURSDAY NIGHT AND CONTINUE ON FRIDAY. THIS WILL COMPOUND THE SEVERITY OF THE STORM GIVING NEAR WHITE-OUT CONDITIONS AT TIMES IN FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW.
Oh, yay. See you 8ish?

I'd rather be skiing!!
If the snow keeps up and the roads are bad, I may not chance to drive on bald tires. Cynthia
Bob & I have been planning on coming on Saturday for a short walk before the big migration. However, if the roads are bad, we might try to get an early start on our drive to Quebec.
If we don't see you: Happy trails!
My walk home from Vic Park and Swanwick this aft was something akin to a half marathon. I haven't even looked at my drive. I think it is safe to say I won't be venturing out tomorrow morning.
I will not be out on Saturday morning as I have some last minute packing to do...before shuffling off to Buffalo in the afternoon. I'm off to Hilton Head, South Carolina for a holiday with family.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
Barb
Given the weather and the lack of Christmas shopping done I think I will skip tomorrow morning too. I have to miss Monday night too - client Christmas do - but I think I'll take Helen up on the Wed am walk before I turn into a complete couch potato.
It's 6:30 am and just stuck my nose out the door. -16, -25 with the windchill. Sorry, layering only takes you so far!
Plus, madness might be more bearable in company, but it looks like there won't be much,if any (madness OR company), so...
Enjoy the the holidays, all.
Barb, soak up some sun for me, and Helen and Bob, safe drive!
See you all next Saturday!
Debbie
I'm going out....despite the cold. Hope to see some on you there.
