Walk: Sat. Oct. 4 @ Tim's

First, let me get this business out of the way. To the handful doing 18K for the Toronto Half: do you want to meet at 7 am, so we'll finish more or less with the rest of our group? Please post your preference.

For everyone else walking on Saturday, the time will be 8 am as usual for a friendly distance of your choosing. See you afterwards.

Now: more stories from the weekend are reaching news central. This one from Michelle, whose daughter Suzanne has just earned her first medal in style. Well done, Suzanne. We honour runners here, too. (Speaking of runners, our runners-who-are-also-walkers, Breda and Carole, aced personal bests, with 2:23 apiece. Pat on the back, girls!)

Lou-Ann was also at Scotia on Sunday. Here's her report:

"My daughter and I did the Scotiabank Charity 5 K and had a great time; Epilepsy Toronto had a good showing! We just took a leisurely walk and enjoyed the day and each other's company."

Sounds great, and you had the perfect day for it. Right now, the good-looking gals in our photo represent the only picture in our Flickr Scotia album. I hope there'll be more for you soon. Stay tuned.

Good luck to those doing the long haul on Sat. I won't be out as I have to go to Kingston on Friday and am not sure if I will be back Fri or Sat. Hope to go out with Eileen on Sunday.

Hi All,
I won't be out on Saturday, as I have to take my Dad to an early appointment in Pickering; but I'll be with you in spirit! I'll get the Scotia photos onto Flickr this weekend; it's been a busy week at the opera, with evening rehearsals and during the day.
See you all soon; and good luck to the 18-k'ers on Saturday morning!

I'm hoping to be out on Saturday, and would be willing to start at 7 am to get the 18K over with sooner. See you then (or afterwards).

Hope to see everyone soon.

Helen...you are a cruel woman, but I'd like to do 18 km so if I have to be there at 7:00, I guess I can do it, again!!

I hope a few more will join us.

Good morning! I'd prefer 8 am, but I'll check back later today. If no one else posts for 8, I'll be there at 7.

The JeansMarines newbies are doing their longest pre-Washington walk/run (35k) tomorrow. Their route (described below) takes them through our neighbourhood. If you see them, how about a nice shout-out! BTW, coach Annie told me there are more walking than running newbies ths year.
-- Cheers, Michelle.

From High Park, head south to the Lake, go east on the Martin Goodman Trail, all the way to Cherry Street. Turn right (south) on Cherry. Then turn left (east) on Unwin and go all the way to Leslie. Go left (north) on Leslie to Lakeshore Blvd. Then right on Lakeshore to the park which leads to the entrance of the Beach Boardwalk. Continue east to Kew Beach Park and the tennis courts. This is your turnaround point. If you pass Leuty Street, that is a street too far.

Michelle, unless you're doing 18K (and there are only a handful of us), the start time is still 8 am.

And, I should have added, few people who show up actually sign in -- unfortunately. Which makes me sometimes wonder why I do this crazy blog.

I'll be there at 7 for the 18K - I just have to remember to re-program the cats to wake me up an hour early.

Ny God,a re we masochists or heroes?

I'll join the 18 km brigade at 7 am. I'm doing the Victoria half next Sunday but a week should give my body time to recover. Or am I dreaming?

Cheers

Michelle, I'll join you at 8.00 am for a distance to be decided at that time!!
Helen, I agree with your commend about the non-responders and continue to be amazed at your doggedness (I couldn't spell the other word I was going to use - no, it wasn't a swear word)! But thanks, thanks, thanks......

Hi Helen,
Thank you for all your efforts that you've put in our blog. For me, it's an important and useful communication tool. I think I'm one of the guilty ones that sometimes I don't update the blog if I'm coming or not.
To give you a break, maybe what we can do is to rotate also the role of blogmaster (same idea as with the book club)... You can train some of us. Dawn had fun doing it before. :-)

Yikes -- Eva, don't let something I said in a tired moment make anyone think I don't love doing the blog. It's fun, or I wouldn't make time for it! But I do know that the more we use the blog, the more useful it will become....

I'm aiming for 7:00 a.m. If I'm not there, don't wait. Dinner party tonight has me a little tired...
