Walks - Sat. December 21 - Mon. Dec. 23rd.

Yikes - it's almost here - Christmas, the holiday season, whatever you call it at your home. Time to celebrate....with a walk or two.

Let's walk on Saturday, weather permitting, from Tim's at 8:00 am for whatever distance seems wise - we could aim for 8 - 10 km.  Will you join us?

I'm going to do a second post after Monday in which we'll suggest some days and times for the "holiday weeks".  I suspect we'll have more people interested in extra day time walks, so I'll ask around on Saturday to see if there are suggested days, times and locations. Please add your ideas to this blog.  I would love to have some company to help me knock off those last 191 kms before Dec. 31st - how did I get so far behind?  Was doing well for so long and then....????

I know that some people are travelling to far off places to join loved ones - enjoy your visits and travel safely. To everyone, have a wonderful holiday season - enjoy time with family and friends.

The next race is the resolution run December 29th for those inclined to wear off some Christmas feasting!

Thanks Susan; lovely seasonal photos! I won't be out Saturday morning, as we have a wedding to go to; depending on the weather!
I wish everyone a beautiful Christmas and holiday season; and look forward to sharing the roads with you all next year!

I hope to be at Tim's at 8.00 tomorrow, but it really depends on the weather,.

On Monday 23rd, however, a couple of us are walking from my house at 9.00 am. If you would like to join us, please let me know so that if anything changes, I can let you know.

To everyone, have a very Merry Christmas and all the very best for 2014.

Arlene and I plan to be at Tim's tomorrow. Distance will be determined by how icy the sidewalks and roads are!
Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas.

I'll be out tomorrow - I've eaten way too many Christmas candies.

For those of you who won't be out because you've practiced restraint (and for those of you who won't be out regardless), happy holidays.

Hope to be there Saturday, but for now just keeping an eye on the weather. Ice ain't nice. Make sure your batteries are well charged, and get a lock on your candles.

If we don't see you, have a most happy Christmas. I'm sure we'll meet before the New Year.

Dawn, if the ice storm permits, Bob and I would like to join you on Monday morning.

I will not be able to come out Saturday morning. Some health issues are limiting my ability to participate.
Best wishes to all for Christmas and the New Year.

I will not be out Saturday, have finished baking so need to get myself back to a reasonable routine soon. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas or happy holidays and will see you in 2014 if not sooner!

I was walking very hesitantly at 8pm this evening. I plan to be out, but I'm a little nervous - once broken twice shy...

If you're not out tomorrow and I don't see you Monday have a very Merry Christmas, or whatever holiday you choose to celebrate. Keep warm and safe.

I just came in and the sidewalks are pretty icy. Plan to stay indoors in the morning. Would like to try and join the Monday group.
Wishing every one a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season.

Not walking tomorrow, too icy out, but I will join at Dawn's on Monday. Sorry Sharon to leave you in the lurch.

It's just after midnight, and I just came in from deicing the sidewalk. It's very slippery, and I don't expect to be walking on Saturday. We'll see what it's like in the morning. Fingers crossed!

Not a problem, Leverne. Cynthia brought me home last night and could not get the car in my driveway. At 11 pm it was treacherous!

I will try to make it to Dawn's on Monday.

For those of you I may not see in the next week, may you have a wonderful holiday and a blessed merry Christmas.

I'm staying home for sure. It's 6:45 am Saturday, I crept slowly out on my deck and down the stairs and to the street and it's extremely icy and slippery.

Not worth the risk!

Enjoy your sleep-in, everyone!

Staying home, folks! Hope to see some of you at Dawn's on Monday morning.

Okay - I'll stay home too, but I'm already finished my coffee! Will walk a bit later when it might be safer.
Hope to see some of you in the days ahead.....and may you all enjoy the best of the season.

I just walked out to my front walk and it's pure ice. I do not want to spend 5 hours in emergency or 6 weeks in a cast. I am staying home. I'll try for Monday morning. BTW Debbie I have your hat/scarf - I forgot all about it until I opened the trunk yesterday. I'll bring it Monday. I also have the last of Helen's books in my trunk if anyone is looking for theirs.

Agreed - way too icy. I can't get past the first step.

Happy holidays to you all from sunny Florida!

If today's melt freezes overnight, it might be unsafe for a morning walk. Will check in on Monday morning.

Hope everyone has their power back! Many of the side streets by me are still blocked with tree branches. Sidewalks were very icy at midnight last night. Think I will save my walking for one more day.
Have a wonderful Christmas!

Our street and sidewalk look a bit like a skating rink. I'm afraid I'm going to give the walk a pass today. For any of my Shore Things friends who might be without power -- hoping it's fixed for you soon and that your Christmas will, indeed, be merry!

We did go for a bit of a walk last night but it was a bit like walking on eggshells, certainly no speed. Although I'm sorry not to see everyone this morning I'd like to stay intact for Christmas (knock on wood).

Merry Christmas everyone and see you soon to walk off all of the Christmas goodies!

Helen said...

Anyone without power is welcome to warm up at our place. We've been among the lucky ones, touch wood!

I have been without power for 25 hours but I've really enjoyed it. The fridge and freezer contents are outside in the backyard. I boiled water for my tea out on the barbecue. I cooked my dinner outside. I entertained my young niece and nephew with board games. I read with a miner's lamp strapped to my head.

But most of all, I loved the quiet. When I stood outside, I listened to the ice-covered branches knocking each other. It sounded like chimes.

A real winter wonderland, indeed.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Sharon

My power is finally back on....Christmas Eve morning - no more indoor winter camping. Like Sharon, my bbq helped and luckily, I have a gas fireplace. Lost some food and some is still outside in a cooler. Fun, I guess!

Finally got power back on Monday night, just in time to spend a wonderful Christmas with family. Not sure when the next walk is but I'm only going if the roads and sidewalks are safe. Hope a great Christmas was had by all and a happy new year too!!!
