Walks: Mon. Sept. 26 & Wed. Sept. 28

First-time half marathoner, Lou-Ann
Beautiful weather, great crowd, delicious food.  Who could ask for anything more?

We had lots of firsts at the KW Walking Classic: Lou-Ann's first half marathon, the first half in some time for Trish and Eileen, a first "official" race for Denise and Alisa in the 10K. Rainer and Margy placed in their category in the 10K and Ruth in the Half. We also had some prize-winners in the draw. Yay, Shore Things!

Any personal bests? I one of my best times... and still managed to finish in the middle of the pack. There was some tough competition in this race.

For Bob, who fell on his bike in the rain on Friday night and broke a rib, it was his first time as a race judge on the course. (Bob also met with Dave and Susan Lewis and Lee Scott to discuss the idea of a powerwalking association. More on that to come.)

Monday and Wednesday, we're keeping to a taper schedule with 6K and 5K, before the 25K Toad race on Saturday. Sign in and let us know where you'll be.

This week, I wish myself a happy birthday. Hopefully, there's plenty more where that came from.

A fabulous weekend all the way around. Great company. Lots of laughs. Once again we outdid our selves not only on the racecourse but with the food for the potluck.
Thank-you to everyone.
Bob, I hope you are feeling better soon, Helen, I haope you have a fantastic birthday and no more visits to ER.
I will be joining the early group on Monday evening.

Congrats to everyone at the KW half and 10k; sounds like a great weekend all round! Helen; happy cake day to you; and Bob; wishing you a speedy recovery. Won't be out this week due to opera-itis (I must take something for that!)but with hope, next week I'll find a moment. The Zoorun was also a perfect day; and the animals were all very welcoming!

Congratulations to everybosy at the KW event and to Olwyn at the Zoo. What beautiful weather we had this wekend. So, from my point of view, "one down - one more to go". I do hope the weather works for us again on Saturday at the Toad.

Monday and Wednesday the early evening walks (6 and 5) will be from my house starting at 4.45 pm. PLEASE telephone me if you wish to join us at either of these. Today, Monday, our walk will be followed by a Thai supper at the little place on Coxwell.

Happy Birthday, Helen. What a great job you did in the half yesterday.

All I can say is the Shore Things rock! The 'blue shirts' were the talk of course at K/W. Fabulous pot luck and fellowship by everyone. Congrats to Olwyn for a fun day at the zoo.

I won't be out Monday night but plan to be at Shoppers on Wed at 7pm.

What a great weekend that was, getting great stuff at the Farmer's Market, breaking bread with friends, then pushing ourselves on the course. Helen and I crossed at the same time, so both had our personal bests. I won't be out on Monday... don't have to train for the Toad, I will be resting, ready for Wed.

I'll be joining Dawn & co. for the 4:45 walk on Monday, as my usual carpool buddies aren't walking tonight.

Haven't decided whether I'll be walking on Wednesday... as it's my birthday... might reschedule to Thursday morning. TBD.

It truly was a lovely, fun, and delicious weekend.

I won't be out this week, but hope to see some of the non-toadies Saturday morning at 8.

Best wishes for a very happy birthday Helen.

I won't be out tonight. I moving like a turtle but I will go for a walk to keep the muscles from becoming atrophied. The walk yesterday turned out to be a fabulous ab workout. Go figure. It did wonders for the butt, too.

I, too, had a personal best but I am too tired to appreciate the accomplishment. I knocked five minutes off my constant time of 3:01!

I want to thank everyone for an eventful and rewarding weekend. I will forever remember Stacey losing the car keys at St. Jacobs at closing time. I will forever remember me searching for them, finding them and returning to the scene of the crime to see Stacey and Cynthia sitting in the bleachers eating bread and apple jelly. What a hoot!

Anyway, happy birthday to you Helen. I won't see you until Saturday and Bob, I sure hope that you are healing fast.
