Walk: Sat. Aug. 16 @ Tim's

Look at that blur of motion, and purposeful 13K walking!

That's it, gang. It's all easy stuff now* till the half marathon in Quebec a week from Sunday.

I understand that the cocktail committee convened after last night's walk. We look forward to sampling their creation as our post-race toast.

Saturday's distance is 8K. That's to the end of the boardwalk OR down the Spit to the swing bridge -- and back. State your preference here.

*The asterisk is to exempt the Midsummer's Night Dreamers from easy stuff, as they power through 15K on Saturday night. As that includes me and my speedy spouse, we won't see you at Tim's.

Wherever you are, have a great, safe, fun walk.

It was a great walk last night; we came in slightly under 13k, but who's counting. We made it up to the Eglinton Bridge, and turned back shortly thereafter. One thought as the nights are getting darker, earlier; we might stick to the lit roadways for any longer walks, as it got very dark in the park on our way back, and there seemed to be a few 'unsavory' characters wandering around down there - we were glad we were a 'pride of walkers'; or is that a 'multitude of walkers'?- at any rate, we were glad to be in a gang.
The cocktail committee meeting was hugely successful last night; so successful in fact, that we're meeting again on Monday night after the walk; this may become a regular offshoot of the Shore Things!
See you all on Saturday morning, minus the Shakespearean characters who are walking the evening walk.

Cynthia here...congrats to all you 13K'er. It is especially encouraging to hear the cocktail committee is such a big success. On that note I have 18 wine glasses in boxes to donate to the cause and I know where we can get more. They are free and you can smash them in the fireplace afterwards if you like.
I vote for the board walk over the spit, but will go with group consensus on Saturday.
David arrived home safely last night and just about kissed the ground. He walked the dog this AM without prompting and ate all the 'home made meal' last night. He is really happy to be home!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish the Quebec crew fleet feet and sunny weather. Sounds like the weekend will be a huge success and lots of fun. Please have a drink for me (or 2....or 3)
I won't see you all til you get back. I'm off to Peterborough tomorrow for a big family BBQ on Saturday. On Monday I leave for the swinging metropolis of Bartlesville OKLA. My mother-in-law had a stoke the beginiing of July and has now been moved to a nursing facilty for rehab. I'm taking my mom down so we can cheer her up and find out about when she might be able to return to Canada.
Olwyn - I hear you about the nights getting darker soone but hopefully after you return from Quebec the evening walks will be somewhat shorter than 13K (please!).
Happy Trails! Take lots of pics!

To the cocktail committee - if you are meeting Monday night, can the Wow brigage, who are interested, can join you guys? It is our last workout before Quebec and I think it's worth celebrating.

I will walk on Saturday, I vote for the boardwalk also. I've got to run right after the walk and will take out a Tim coffee instead.

Olwyn, I think that we're "an exaltation of walkers" -- as in larks. But you can choose your own from this link:

Have a great walk, everyone. See you Monday, or Wednesday.

I'm looking forward to wearing a shirt that reads "the lunatic, the walker, the poet" tomorrow evening!
