Ward's Island is still on the agenda for a 10K walk on Sunday, rather than Saturday. The Terry Fox Run/Walk for Hope begins at 10 am at The Rectory Café. You can bring a cash donation or pledges or donate online, all for a good cause. It's the Fall schedule, so the ferry to Ward's Island leaves the docks at 9:45 am. Fares: $6.50 ($4 for seniors). A few of us did this two Septembers ago and had a very enjoyable time. Bring your family -- it'll be an easy walk.For those who aren't interested in the island, Tim's is still an option, meeting at 8 am for the distance of your choice. Sign in with your preference here.

Two races to consider:
The Hamilton Road2Hope Half Marathon, November 1st. I've contacted the organizers who assure me there is a walkers' category, with recognition for placers. We have till October 10 to think about this before the rates go up.
More pressing is this amazing way to experience the 25th Anniversary of the Big Sur Marathon in California. This sounds like a really exciting trip (and I wish I could take it). But you have to sign up for Big Sur now before it sells out – which it does quickly. Have a look.

Hi Gang, Just letting you know that I won't be out this weekend, as it's my dragon boating regatta at Marilyn Bell park, with my team, the Flaming Dragons! I will see the 'Walk to End Breast Cancer' walkers en route out of town early Saturday morning, which is when our first race is. Wishing everyone a great weekend, either volunteering for the WTEBC, or walking for Terry Fox on the Island on Sunday; all great causes!

I can't make it to the island walk on Sunday, and still not sure about Saturday at Tim's - I have a wedding (not mine!) both days.

I'm very tempted by Lee Scott's trip to do Big Sur. Julaine is registered. Is anyone else considering it?

First off, thanks again, Ruth, for that scrumptious lunch you packed for us all and shlepped on the TTC all the way to Exhibition Place! Made a good day even better!
Looking ahead - I just checked out the website for the Big Sur marathon (April 25, 2010) as well as Lee Scott's site for her group trip there - both sound amazing!
Thinking --and this is just thinking at this point--about possibly doing the 21 miler -which is about 34 kilometers --which I think would be more realistic (and definitely more humane!) than the full marathon.
There's also a 10.6 miles (about 17km) option, which skips the notorious Hurricane Point (don't ask,you don't want to know).
Lee's trip sounds wonderful, but it's not cheap...
Any thoughts out there?
I may or may not be at Tim's Saturday, will try.
