Walk: Mon. April 20 @ Loblaws

We were there, and it didn't rain -- unfortunately for Toronto's gardens. FYI, those who took the short route back from the lighthouse logged 12.4K (rather than 13K). Could be woise.

Monday we have 8K on the schedule, with intervals. Let's go back to the loop to do four fast circuits, with some recovery in between.

Carpooling &c. for Mercedes-Benz:

Bob & I will be driving, and have room for six more people. Do we have other drivers? Please reply to this email and let me know -- whether you have or whether you need wheels.

BTW, anyone doing both this race and the Toronto Women's Half in May will need to think about how to handle that 16K for next Saturday. The hard-ass option would be to do both the long walk and the 10K race, then optionally skip the Monday walk. This applies to only three of us.

For any art lovers:

Stellar Runner Pam Mingo has an upcoming show in Leslieville at Gallery 888, April 29 to May 10. Those of you who dropped by Pam's studio show in the winter know she does interesting work.

Hi all,

OK, I'm a hardass..if the weather cooperates, I'll do 16 km Saturday AND the Mercedes-benz 10 km on Sunday.

Helen,I would like to drive down to the race with you, if there's room in your car.

Also, I just re-checked the race website and guess what! Perhaps someone complained -- they have upgraded the prize for the winners of the women's 10 km run and 10 km walk --as follows:

"1st place overall female in the 10k run and 1st place overall female in the 10k power walk will receive both a premium prize package (valued at $1,000) generously donated by Marc Hewitt of Niche Development and a beautiful presentation bouquet generously donated by Frank Rea and his team at Forget Me Not Flowers (www.forgetmenotflowers.ca)"

Also - Bob, please note:

"1st place overall male in the 10k run and 1st place overall male in the 10k power walk will each receive a $1,000 gift certificate generously donated by Randy Lalonde and his team at Blazer For Men (www.blazerformen.com) located in Oakville."

I know, none of us is doing any of this for the prizes, but it would be an honor for a Shore Thing to win!

See you all next weekend,

Debbie

If it is raining I won't be out. This weather is really taking a toll on my bones. Will do some rain dances and hope for sunshine again soon.

Hi All,
Looks like I won't be out for a while; I apparently overdid it (I find that hard to believe, since I haven't been out much at all lately!), and have inflamation of the lower right shin and right ankle; I start physiotherapy tomorrow...sigh. Rest, ice and advil should do the trick; and I think a nice Merlot might help also...(!)
That said, I'm hoping to be back up on my feet in a few weeks; and will see everyone then. Olwyn

If it's raining at 6:45 pm like it's raining now at 3 pm (all "light" rain, according to the weather report; ha!), I will be staying indoors tonight.

Will make up for it by some hard-ass training this weekend.

Doesn't look like anyone is walking Monday night; I will walk if someone else is so I will check the blog at 6:30 to see if there are any takers.

I'm heading off to the gym to do the 8k on the treadmill!
See everyone on Wed....if it's dry.

Well, I will forget about walking tonight. I will come out for a SHORT walk on Saturday, not as brave as Debbie to do 16km Saturday and 10 on Sunday.

Helen, Paul is going to come to the race on Sunday so we will drive ourselves there, if anyone else needs a lift we have 2 (could squeeze 3) spaces available. I'm not sure who has entered the race. Helen would you and Bob like to go with us in the car if we don't have any more takers?

The rain seems to have tapered off now (now being 5:50), but the wind is still very gusty. I'm unsure what benefit a walk this evening would provide, other than perfecting our Marcel Marceau impressions. I think I'll hunker down with a warm laptop. In any case, Helen is still out for a late meeting with a client, and I don't know if she'll be back in time anyway.

So the wind managed to take a door right off its hinges this afternoon at school. And I just got back from Loblaws - one set of doors closed and the wind literally blew me back to my car. I agree with Bob and am staying put!
