Walks: Sat. Feb. 29 to Wed. Mar. 4

A small but hardy group met last Saturday. Who'll brave the weather this week?
What's a little snow among friends? Let's lace up and do our bodies some good. Either Tim's at Leslie and Lake Shore at 8 am, or enter your alternative time and place in the comments.

First, let's hear from Libby:

Congratulations to Trish et al for their 5K Zoo walk. We should try and promote this for next year! A good February short walk with a nice medal!

Half racer(s) in the MudCat are scheduled for 12K this week. Weekday distances are 8K both days.

I suggest the 10K racers do 10K this Saturday as a short trial, then 4-5K during the week. Add a hill and intervals if you can. Pick a lamp post to start, then rapidly walk 2-3 lamp posts and then recover. Repeat 3-5 times during the walk...easy!

Weekday locations:

Let's see what the weather brings us. Monday and Wednesday at 8 am, we've been walking in the Danforth area. Please check the comments for places and times. Contact Helen if you have questions.

Wednesday at 9 am from Tim's on Leslie is organized by Charlotte. Unless I hear differently, she is your contact person.

Race registrations:

Trish recommends the 5K Famous Canadian Beer Run & Festival at Ontario Place on September 12th. More info in that embedded link. It sounds like a fun event.

For a few races in our blog sidebar, registration fees go up on Saturday, Feb. 29, including the popular Corning Half in October. Not all the sidebar links have been updated for 2020 yet, but they're good to explore if you're thinking about a fall race.

Bob and I can't go this year due to a conflict, but next year we have our eye on the Dinosaur Half in Drumheller, Alberta, in mid-September. Apparently, it isn't as hilly as you'd expect.

We'll soon be welcoming back more Shore Things to the fold. For those still travelling, enjoy!

Cheers, say Olwyn and Trish!

I also plan on walking tomorrow morning from Tim's 2...I'm hoping the "wind gods" are taking a break in the morning!

Well, after listening to the weather report for tomorrow morning, I may have to wait to see what it is like before I venture outside...sorry for being indecisive!

Jan has to be back home by 9 am, so we're going for a short walk from our street on Monday morning, starting at 8 am, or just before. Welcome back, Leverne.

Okay. We're meeting at Jan's at 7:45 on Monday morning, in case anyone else wants to join in.

The Wednesday 8am group will be meeting at Leverne's for 6K or so.
