Thank you - Lou Ann and Paul Cox hosted a fabulous pool party last weekend - great food, great friends and a relaxing afternoon splashing around in the pool. A summer highlight! Thank you so much.

Announcements and Information:
From Susan - Tommy Thompson park is hosting the 9th Annual Butterfly festival this weekend.
Late August is the prime time to get a glimpse of the Monarch Butterfly before they start their annual migration to Mexico, where they spend the winter. This incredible 3,500 km migration takes place between August and November and begins with the gathering of the Monarchs at places like Tommy Thompson Park.

from Libby: Lots of races this fall and lots of ShoreThings competing so if you are thinking of a race, long or short, now is the time to commit. So much more fun with a group! Options include: Ultra Night Walk (5K)- Sept. 8
Maritime Weekend-Sept. 14
Cavan Hills (10 and 5K walk) Sept. 22
BIST- Sept 30
Corning Wineglass- Sept. 30
Scotia Waterfront Half- Oct. 21

from Rainer: Cavan Hills- WALKER FRIENDLY race! Word on the street is they have increased their supply of butter tarts just to entice the ShoreThings!. It is a lovely drive to Peterborough. There is a 4.5K distance as well as the 10K - Sept 22

A short update on a 5km race Rainer did in Neustadt Saturday morning.
Neustadt is a small village (pop 545) about 45 minute drive south of Owen Sound. All funds raised go to charity with the biggest portion for mental health. They have a 10km run, 5km run and a 5km walk. Walkers have a separate colour bib and start time. Lots of community support, friendly people and volunteers.

from Susan - via FB - congratulations to Helen, yes our very own Helen has been awarded the 2018 Gold Award for Best Digital Writing (about gardening, I believe).

To those travelling, be safe, be well and enjoy your time away.

Looks like the pool party was lots of fun. Sorry to have missed it. I won't be walking tomorrow morning. Managed to bring home quite a cold. Hoping to be able to get the distance done on Sunday. See you all next week.
