Walks: Sat. July 29 to Wed. Aug. 2

Come out, come out, wherever you are! Join us at Tim's on Lakeshore at 8 am for a fun walk in good company. It's our last Saturday together in July, so come out in force.

Monday is 7 pm at Loblaws. Wednesday is (usually) 6:30 pm at Occasions, but summertime means some walk in the morning instead. And other groups meet at different times and places.

Please be sure to check the comment section to see who's coming out on any particular day, and do sign in to let us know were you'll be. It helps to know if we'll have company.

Race notes from Libby:

This weekend the Beach Jazz race takes place and there are still spots for the 5K race Sunday for any interested. The 10K and Half distances are full!

Congratulations to Trish, Cheryl and friends Anita and Julie who have all signed up for the Scotia Half. Hope you join us for your training! If you check the Race Interests list, you'll see we now have quite a contingent competing is this fall race! Any more interested?? 

Training for Scotia begins Monday with distances of 6K and 8K during the week. Scotia full should do 26K this week. (Ruth returns from travels this weekend!)

Walks - Saturday July 22 - Wednesday July 26

A well deserved intermission

Join us on Saturday at Tim's at 8:00 am. Any distance is good distance. The only folks who are training (Libby, Susan, Dianne & vacationing Ruth) will do their long walk early Friday. The important thing is to come out, get moving and then join the group for coffee.

Sunday morning walkers meet at 8:30 am at the Running Room on Queen St.
Monday evening walkers meet at 7:00 pm at Loblaws.
Wednesday evening walkers meet at 6:30 pm at Occasions.

Best wishes to Margy and Rainer who flew off to Newfoundland for a 10 mile race in St. John's. Great spot to visit - enjoy, do well and safe travels. I heard a rumour that Margy will be screeched during her visit - does she know about this? Stay tuned for details.

1. Shorethings Pool Party is Saturday July 29th - Please RSVP to Lou-Ann. This annual event is always great fun and the pot luck ensures great menu choices - many thanks to Lou-Ann & Paul for hosting.

2. Price for the Scotia bank race increases July 27th - consider signing up and race with other Shorething races.

3. Let Libby know if you are signed up for a race.

As the summer ticks along, many are taking vacation and travelling - enjoy; be safe; hurry back. I'll be missing in action for the next few weeks. My thanks to Helen who will do the blog in my absence.

Walks - Saturday July 15 - Wednesday July 19

And, in our spare time, we paddle

Join us on Saturday at Tim's at 8:00 am for a distance that inspires you and then join your friends for coffee. Great way to start the weekend.

Those who are training for a full marathon completed their long walk bright and early Thursday morning - 19 km - feels good to have that distance behind us.

Sunday morning, meet at the Running Room on Queen St. at 8:30 am - enjoy a more leisurely pace.
Mid week walks - Monday night at 7;00 pm at Loblaws; Wednesday nigh at 6:30 at Occasions.
Remember to sign in so that others know your plans.

Reminder: Shore Things Pool Party - July 29th - RSVP to Lou Ann as soon as possible. As always, thank-you, Lou Ann & Paul for hosting. It is truly a highlight of the summer.

Just want to take moment to say that we are thinking of those who are ill, injured, undergoing treatment and/or recovering from surgery.  We wish you the very best and we miss you.

Walks - Saturday July 8 - Wednesday July 12

Another fun outing

Join us on Saturday at Tim's at 8:00 am for whatever distance suits you. There are only a few of us who are training for races so distance is optional for most of you - but do come out!

Full marathoners: Scotiabank folks need to do 22 km; NYC folks need to do 20 or join with Scotia. Given weekend plans, this distance was completed on Thursday morning, very very early.

Sunday walkers meet at 8:30 am at Running Room on Queen St.
Mid week walkers meet Monday at Loblaws at 7:00 pm; Wednesday at Occasions at 6:30 pm. 
Please sign in on the blog so others know your plans. Our numbers will dwindle with vacations, injuries, etc. - others will appreciate knowing if you are planning to walk.

1. Mark your calendars - Annual Shorethings Pool Party - Saturday July 29th - plan to attend - more information will be provided in the weeks ahead.  Thanks so much to Lou Ann and Paul.

2. Let me know if you want to start earlier on Saturdays mainly to avoid the heat. In the past, we often move to an earlier start time during the summer especially for those who are doing longer distances. 

3. Did you see the Duck?

A few are injured, ill or recovering from surgery - we miss you and wish you well. And, we send our best wishes to those undergoing treatments.

Lastly, it is travel and vacation season - we hope you travel safely and enjoy your time away. Bring back your travel stories to share with us.
