Walks - Saturday May 27 - Wednesday May 31, 2017

Join us on Saturday at Tim's at 8:00 am. Saturday weather looks sunny. Let's make the most of it.  Any distance is good distance....unless you are training.
1. Margy is tapering with a mere 12K.
2. Diva trainees are scheduled for 16K.  Not sure if Divas want to start at 8:00 or at 7:30 am??? Sign in to let others know. 
3. Susan and Libby have 12K on the schedule but could be convinced to join the Diva's for 16?
Weekday distances for Divas are 10K both days. 

Sunday walkers meet at 8:30 am at Running Room on Queen St.
Evening walkers meet Monday (Loblaws) at 7:00 pm and Wednesday (Occasions) at 6:30 pm.
Join us if you can.

2. Bob and Helen have signed up for the Scotia Half - check it out & sign up - the medals feature the Leuty Lifeguard station - how neat is that? 
3.  Thanks to former Shorethings, Michelle Ramsay, for this gem...Word for the day: Inanition which means "the exhausted condition that results from a lack of food and water" - please hydrate.
4. Some of us suffer from sore knees often caused by IT band problems - pain tends to be on the side of the knee. Found this list of stretches on line:

Walks - Saturday May 20 - Wednesday May 24

Art in the Park

These past few days have been hot and sunny with a gentle breeze - great for early morning or early evening walks. Join us on Saturday at Tim's. Let's meet at 8:00 am and walk whatever distance challenges you. Then coffee with friends - a great way to kick off the first long weekend of summer.

Those training: 
Divas - I understand that your race location is changing due to flooding on Toronto Island. Nevertheless, you still have to train - 20 km on Saturday - and I propose starting at 7:30 am given the distance. Weekday distances are 10 and 10 km
Niagara Women's - Margy (wherever you are) you need to do 16 km.
NYC - Susan & Libby need to do a mere 10 km on Sat - just a walk in the park that.

Sign in on the blog - especially to let others know if you are starting at 7:30 or 8:00 am.

Sunday walks begin at 8:30 am from the Running Room on Queen St.

Mid week walks - since Monday is a holiday, I suggest that we meet at 9:00 am at Tim's 2 - again, please sign in so that others will know your plans.

Wednesday evening walkers meet at Occasions at 6:30 pm - we had another great walk this week - consider joining us.

Announcements, Updates and Information:
1. Sporting Life last Sunday was a fun race and the Shore Things certainly walked well! It was fun to see a sea of bright orange race shirts headed down Yonge Street- 22,400 raising over a million $ for Camp Ooch. Great times: Ruth (1:16), Sheila (1:19), Libby (1:18), Arlene (1:24)- guided by Elaine. Well done ladies!

2. Who is doing the Women's College Race on June 10?  We have 7 names listed - anymore? Please let Charlotte know - she's arranging for coffee afterwards.

3. Sat. June 17 - Brandon Hill power race - consider this: there is a $5 discount code on registrations.  The code is STWALKER and will expire end-of-day on Saturday, May 27. 4. There's a feature-length documentary playing in Toronto this weekend that might appeal.
It's called Boston: The Documentary and it's all about why we get out and pound the streets.

Walks - Sat. May 13 - Wed. May 17, 2017

Enjoyment at its best
Join us for a walk on Saturday at Tim's at 8:00 am. I fear there may be a tad of rain but hey, we're used to that.  For those training, here are your distances for the week:
Divas:  18 km and 10 k plus 10 k during the week.  Almost race time!
NYC:  16 km and more during the week.
Niagara Women's - Marg is training while away (I think).

Other walks:  Sunday mornings at 8:30 am at the Running Room on Queen St.
Daytime during the week - check with Dawn.
Evenings - Monday night from Loblaws, meeting at 7:00 pm - please note the change of time for that Kim is able to join us. Barbara Brown may join us too occasionally.
Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm from Occasions.  On Wednesday this week, we had a great walk, great route, good pace, great friends.  Consider joining us!

Best Wishes to Libby, Ruth, Dianne and Olwyn and the 23,000 others who are competing and completing Sporting Life on Sunday. 

Congratulations to Arlene and Elaine with a time of 3:03 in the Goodlife (last weekend) and to Dianne Broad with a time of 2:43..head wind and all!  Well done, ladies.

Walks - Sat. May 6 - Wed. May 10

Oh, the distances we go....

Join us (after doing the rain dance) on Saturday at Tim's at 8:00 am.  Just do it - any distance is good. For those training, here are the proposed distances:
Niagara Half distance traing is 18k with 10K twice this week.
The Divas are scheduled for 16K with 10 and 8 during the week.
Susan and Libby have 10K on the books.

Let's support those training by walking with them - it all helps.

Best wishes to Arlene, Elaine and Dianne who are doing the Good Life Half this weekend. May the weather gods be kind.....  Would love photos from the race please.
