Walks - Sat. April 29 - Wed. May 3

Do I see mischief in these faces?

Join us on Saturday at Tim's at 8:00 am. Some of you have the choice of picking your distance; others are training and have a training schedule:
Goodlifer's - 12K; weekdays 6 and 5
Diva's- 14K - weekdays 10 & 8
Niagara Women's- 16k (although I believe Margy is away) - weekdays 10 & 8
Susan & Libby - 14K
Join in and walk whatever suits you and/or walk with those training to support their efforts.

Sunday morning walkers gather at 8:30 am at Running Room on Queen St.
Mid week day time walkers organize the day and time through Dawn.
Mid week evening walkers meet at 6:30 pm on Mondays (Loblaws) and Wednesday (Occasions).

Please note that the Hot Docs film festival has started which means that some folks will be walking to films instead of walking with us.  It really helps when folks sign in on the blog - just for others know your intentions.

Announcements and Information:
1. Article from Helen sent to me to see if this gel would help my knee heal:  I found it effective — and you might, too. Sarah first recommended Voltaren gel to me, and I was skeptical till I did some research and found this review on Pain Science, which I trust. It has helped me.

2.  For inspiration, watch this very short clip of an "older" woman completing her distance.

To those who are ill or injured or going through treatment, please know that our thoughts are with you.  And, to anyone who is travelling, enjoy and be safe.

Vacations are the best

Walks - Sat. April 22 - Wed. April 26

Uxbridge

Walk with us on Saturday starting at 8:00 am at Tim's.  Niagara folks need to do 14 km; Divas are doing 12 km. Other folks have more options - choose what works for you. Pick an interesting route and enjoy. Coffee with friends follows the walk.

Mid week distances are 10 and 8 for both training groups.

Sunday morning, consider joining folks at the Running Room at 8:30 am for a slower paced walk.
Mid week day time walkers should connect through Dawn for the time and place.
Evening walkers gather on Monday (Loblaws) and Wednesday (Occasions) at 6:30 pm.

The Uxbridge Trail walk was a great outing (despite the rain later in the race). The course went through a forest and then took a path through the golf course. Very pretty and worth the drive to Uxbridge. The lunch provided was excellent. Consider this race for next year. Ruth and Libby had great times while Susan enjoyed the scenery at a slower pace.

Any other races that appeal?  Keep active; keep healthy.

For those who are injured or ill, we miss you and send you our best wishes for a speedy recovery.  And, to those who are travelling, be safe and enjoy. Can't wait to hear about your trips. I expect Stacey will sign us some Nashville country tunes on Saturday for us.

Congrats Olwyn - comments below

It is a long weekend and a great time to get out and walk. Join us at Tim's at 8:00 am. Distances are somewhat optional if you do not have a specific race in mind. However, for others, the required distance is listed below:
The Divas need to do 16 km on Saturday and 10 km & 8 km during the week.
Niagara Women's folk need to do 12 km on Saturday and 10 km & 8 km during the week

And, it is race day (ready or not) for Libby, Ruth and Susan who will be in Uxbridge doing the 10 km trail walk on Saturday - all the best to you.

Sunday - not sure if the Sunday (Easter) morning walkers are meeting at 8:30 at the Running Room on Queen St.  Deanna, Kim or Sylvia could likely tell you.

Monday is a vacation day for some - I'm going to suggest that we meet at Tim's 2 on Monday morning at 9:00 am. Please sign the blog so we'll know if you plan to walk.

Wednesday evening meet at Occasions at 6:30 - our usual time and place.

Mid week day time walkers should check with Dawn for the time and place.

Announcements and news:
from Olwyn:  The Spring Roster race was lovely, even the hill at the end didn't seem as steep as it used to be!  A perfect day for the 8k.   Lots of music along the route, and big crowds cheering everyone on at the start and finish.  I already plan to do it again next year!

from Libby: Please let Libby know if you have signed up for a race or are interested in signing up for a race. Check out some of the races listed on the main page of our website - also check to see if your name is listed below any races. We aim to have a current and accurate listing.
from Ruth:  Interesting article in The Star regarding the "new lake" at Ashbridge's Bay:

Enjoy the long weekend and any celebrations that you may celebrate...
