Just to get you in the spirit - It's all about the bling

Join us on Saturday at Tim's at 8:00 am. For those training, the distances for this week are as follows:
Good Life:  18 km - weekdays 8 and 10
KW Half and Women’s Half: 16 km - weekdays 8 and 8
Niagara Women’s Half:  14 km - weekdays 6 and 5
Others are encouraged to pick up the pace and/or the distance now that spring is here. 

Announcements: from Libby - There are 16 of us committed to the Montreal Rock and Roll Half September 25th. Any other interested parties-??? The price increases tonight- March 31. For those interested in joining us, please remember there are 42, 21, 10 and 5 K distance - something for everyone. Plus it will be a fun weekend.

from Rainer: April 2 is the annual Beach Spring Sprint 5km race (also has a walking category) starts and ends at the Balmy Beach club.  Sign up is March 30 & 31 at the Beaches Rec centre 6 Williamson Rd from 7:00 to 9:00pm ....
   May 8 is K-W Walking classic ... the only all walker race in Ontario ... this year has a 5km, 10km and half marathon ... entry is discounted till April 1 .... a great event ... our own Robert Pelletier won it the first year they ran the race ....all walkers; no runners .... hope to see more Shore Things this year.

Consider signing up for a race during 2016 - it is a great motivator to get out and do it.

Lastly, just a quick comment that we look forward to seeing some who have been missing in action for any variety of reasons - Great to have you back with us.

Join us on Saturday at Tim's at 8:00 am. Various distances are on tap; something for everyone. 
For those training, your distances are as follows:
Good Life- 16K; mid week 8 and 8
KW Half- and Women’s half- 14K; mid week 8 and 10
Niagara women's Half- 12K; mid week 8 and 6 km

Some will walk on Sunday from the Running Room on Queen Street, meeting at 8:30 am.  Sign in to let others know if you plan to join the Sunday walking group - it helps to know who is planning to walk. 

Given that some folks have Monday as a vacation day, I am suggesting a Monday walk from Tim's 2, starting at 9:00 am. (Tim's 2 is at Gerrard and Victoria Park - north east side)

Wednesday evening, meet at Occasions at 7:00 pm.

Announcements: The woman in the middle of the photo above is our newest Grandma - congratulations to Olwyn (and Steve) on the birth of their first grandchild.

The days are getting longer; the weather will be getting better; let's get out and walk.

We have several people who are doing one of our two challenges - Keep up the good work! Spring time is the perfect opportunity to catch up,  make sure you are on track and/or to get a bit ahead.

Join us Saturday (yes, spring is in the air) at Tim's at 8:00 am. Any distance is good distance. However, for those training, the distance is starting to ramp up.

K-W Half and Women😖 Half- 12K
Niagara Women’s Half- 10K

Niagara Women’s Half- 6 and 6K

Options for walks:
Sunday - some walkers meet at the Running Room on Queen St at 8:30 am - join us.
Evenings at 7:00 pm: Monday - Loblaws; Wednesday - Occasions. The evenings are light now and the roads are dry so be sure to join in.

Sign in to let others know your intentions, especially for the longer walks!

Announcement from Libby: the Mercedes Benz 10k in Oakville. It has a walking division and is local for those interested .  It is Sunday April 24th.....

Celebrating Olwyn's birthday

Join us on Saturday at Tim's at 8:00 am - it is beginning to feel more and more like spring so come and enjoy the great outdoors. Distances are optional except for those training, the distances are as follows:
Good Life Half has an easier 12K this week, a reprieve before ramping up once again. Week day distances should cover 8 and 6 K. 
KW Half walk 16 this week for the long distance; mid week 8 and 5 K. 
Toronto Women’s Half race requires a long distance of 10K this weekend and 6 K twice this week. Niagara Women’s Half now joins the training schedule with 8K this weekend and 8 and 5 during the week.
My, we have a busy group of dedicated racers in our group - very impressive. 

Sunday walks - there will be two different groups walking this Sunday from the Running Room on Queen St. One group will start at  8:30 am and the second group will start at 10:00 am. Join either group if you are able to do so.

It is spring break - if anyone wants to walk during the day (instead of evenings) please post it in the comments section of the blog - you may find people who want to join you.

Mid week walks - Loblaws (Monday); Occasions (Wednesday) both evenings start at 7:00

Join us on Saturday at Tim's at 8:00 am (I won't bother with any weather comment this week). For those training, your distances are as follows:
  Good Life- 16 K Saturday with mid-week distances at 8 and 5
  KW Half- 14K Saturday and 6 and 8 during the week
  Women’s Half- 8K Saturday and 8 and 5 during the week
Others have the luxury of picking whatever distance they choose to do. As always, find a friend and enjoy the walk. Please check the comments section of the blog and sign in so others know your plans.

Other options:
Sunday mornings - walk from Running Room on Queen St. at 8:30 am. Was lovely to see Diane there last week - please join us again.
Evenings at 7:00 pm - Monday from Loblaws; Wednesday from Occasions. 

As the weather improves and the days get longer, it is the perfect time to join us for walks - with a minimum of 4 options each week, pick whatever suits your schedule.  We will welcome you back; no questions asked. Was lovely to see Jenny and I hope you'll return soon - I know, I know, life does get in the way....  

Announcements:  from Libby - As race season is fast approaching. Our group is well represented in two events - the Good Life Half in the spring and the Montreal Half in September. Well done all!.
Our new member Vivienne is joining the Toronto Power Walkers on their trip to Reykjavik in Iceland for the Half Marathon August 20th. Any others interested?

We have a few members with health and/or injury problems - we miss you and wish you a full and speedy recovery.

And, I do believe we have a new Grandma of a bouncing baby boy - congratulations, Lou Ann.
