Our Stars who completed the Niagara Falls half
Join us at Tim's at 8:00 am on Saturday for a distance of your choosing - long or short - it's all good.
Midweek walks - Monday (Loblaws) & Wednesday (Occasions) evenings at 7:00 pm - there may be other options as well so let people know if you have a plan B to announce. The main point is to get out and walk.
Announcements/Updates: from Helen - Niagara - beautiful course along the Niagara River —
mostly flat, though rather windy. Reasons to celebrate:
- Bob finished in top 10 and first in his
age category: time of 2:38:43.
- Libby was in top 20, also first in her category, with
a time of 2:54:20
- Lynne had a personal best of 2:55:31 and credits Libby as
her pace bunny
- Helen and Leverne crossed the line together with a
respectable 3:04:31.
A round of applause for completing their first half marathons:
Viv finished with an
excellent 3:13:07
Kim was close behind at 3:16:43
Deanna at 3:16:44
Viv’s friend Katherine had an admirable
finish at 3:01:50
Well done, everyone!
From Libby - Discussion about a race in Montreal - the Rock
and Roll Marathon September 25th. The race also has a 10K division for those interested a shorter distance. Course is relatively flat, circles both Ile’s in the St Lawrence and ends
in Parc Fontaine, a very picturesque route! Unfortunately, the Scotia Bank
Montreal Marathon is in April and is not a walker friendly race with a half
marathon time limit of three hours.
Please prepare your race interest list
for a discussion at the pot luck dinner November 14th.
We have a small contingent signed up for the 5K Santa Shuffle in
Burlington December 12th. Click on the website through the blog to sign up if
you wish to join them.
Remember the Resolution
Run December 27th. Swag this year is a nice red vest and toque with
sample sizes at Running Room shops. Always a good way to end 2015 and start
2016 with an untimed 5K!!!
