Walks - Sat. April 26 - Wed. Apr. 30

Celebrating with friends
Well, it is taper time for many who are preparing for May races and the distances are a tad more forgiving this week. Let's meet at Tim's on Saturday. I suggest two start times:
8:00 am for those who come for a civilized walk
7:30 am for those doing 16 kms  (K-W and Niagara walkers)
Sign in so others know your plans. It really helps.

Distances for the week (thanks Libby):
Saturday is 16 for both Niagara half and K-W.
Weeknight distances: 10 K both days for K-W; 8 k both days for Niagara Women’s Half.
This is the last weekend to sign up for K-W before the final price rise.

As usual, Monday evening is Loblaws, Wed. evening is Occasions - both at 7:00 pm.  Day time walkers connect with Dawn and Lou-Ann.

Many of us will be enjoying the Hot Docs festival for the next 10 days - again, I urge you to sign in so others know your plans.

Announcements:
from Norma: the intersection of Queen and Leslie will be closed from May 11 to June 21 - just a heads up.
Colourful shoes make you walk faster!
See you Saturday

Walks - Sat. Apr. 19 - Wed. Apr. 23

and you thought no one was watching you in the bushes?

A lovely long weekend....and some are away enjoying a change of scene, time with family and friends, celebrating Easter or Passover or ???

But back at Tim's on Saturday, some will gather and walk...at 8:00 am...for whatever is your pleasure/distance.

Training? well, the distances are increasing, ...according to Libby.....
On Saturday, Joan (good life ambassador) needs to do 16K. The K-W trainees are scheduled for a whopping 20K. Niagara ladies a mere 14k. Weekday distances are 10 K both days....long walks this week and then we begin to taper - isn't that a nice thought!
Due to the long weekend, some have Monday off and some don't. I suggest that we meet at Tim's 2 on Monday at 9:00 am. There may be a group who still prefers Monday evening from Loblaws. Please sign up on the blog so that others know what you plan to do.

Wednesday evening is from Occasions at 7:00 pm for 10 km (or less).

Announcements:
from Dawn: to the KW group: Debbie has a room booked at the Waterloo Hotel which she will not be using.   If anyone wants it, please let Dawn know, otherwise it will be cancelled.   In the meantime, she is still the “Debbie” we know as she starts her second round of chemo next week.   When I saw her briefly, she was wearing her Shore Things shirt to show we are still very much part of her life and she is looking forward to wearing it again when she is able to walk with us.

from Libby:
Please do send me your race interests and check the list to ensure I have your name in the correct slots.

See you Saturday.

Walks - Sat. April 12 - Wed. April 16

Thinking of Sharon & her family this week....
remember: everything is better with coffee at Dawn's

Walking restores us so it is a good thing that we have our walking friends. Come out and join us Saturday. It's good for the sole!

We have two options for Saturday. For a change, let's walk in High Park. Bob has mapped 3 routes - 12, 16, 18 km and he'll bring copies. Meeting spot is at Grenadier CafĂ©, 200 Parkside Dr, -restaurant in middle of park. Lots of parking.

Others may want to remain at Tim's for whatever distance suits you.

Whichever your choice, start time is 8 am. Please let others know your plans on the blog.

Training? The distances according to Libby:
Saturday- both Goodlife and K-W have long distances to cover- Goodlife 20K and K-W- 18K. Let’s Hope for good weather Saturday. Women’s half in Toronto- 14K and Niagara Women’s a mere 12K.

Weeknights are 10 and 8 for K-W and 8 and 6 for the other events. On Monday meet at Loblaws and Wednesday at Occasions (because we have the challenge of a few gentle hills nearby).

Announcements:
To Debbie and Sharon - our thoughts are with you both.
From Ruth & Minds in Motion:
The Winner of the iPad Mini is Rainer Moeller of Toronto!
Question from Susan: is anyone interested in a paddle boarding class for a group of us, at $39 - Kew Beach - we'd pre-book it in late June or July? Clearly, an event not to be missed!
