Walks: Mon to Sat, Apr 30 to May 5

Jan provides a public service
Between Hot Docs, gardening and the little problems life tosses in our path, this post is a few days off schedule. However, it has given me time to include a bon voyage to our Bermuda group. Have a great trip and a fun walk.

Plus, congratulations to the Chocolate Race 16K gang, who finished the race with chocolate and brownies. Trish writes that they had a time improvement over the Midsummer Night 15K (perhaps all Eileen's whip-cracking?). But it was a very small field, with no other walkers, and while it was a good race they're not sure they'd do it again. Thanks for the report, Trish!

For anyone doing the Toronto Women's Half or the Whitby Half, the distances this week should be 8K, 11K and 16K.

Tonight's rain, Hot Docs and the Bermuda departures might thin the Monday group considerably. Please sign in to tell people if you'll be there – otherwise, people might make a trip for nothin. That's what the blog is for.

2012 Challengers get your April totals in. Tomorrow, we begin a whole new month.

Belated birthday wishes to Lynne and Happy Birthday to Cynthia. Have a springy day!

Walks: Sat. April 21 to Wed. April 25

Sometimes we literally stop and smell the flowers
All I know is that the Bermuda team is planning to do 20K this Saturday, starting at 7 am. Sign in or, even better, contact Dawn if you're joining them, so they'll know you're coming.

Chocolate Racers, technically, should be in taper (8K) this weekend. However, please set your own distance if you're still participating in the 2012 Challenge -- or not training for a race.

Monday and Wednesday, let's say 8K each for now. The real work begins soon.

Good luck to those participating in the Toronto 10K race this weekend. Take pictures. And keep your eyes open for Terry's daughter Quinn, who is doing her first 10K – as a walker (and it's her birthday, too). You go, girl!

Happy Earth Day on Sunday, everyone, and happy birthday to mon cher Robert. Celebrate!

Walks: Sat. April 14 to Wed. April 18

This is an experiment at posting with new software from my iPad, so please bear with me! Saturday, those doing the Chocolate Race will need to do 13K. I'm unsure where the Bermuda folks are in their training because I don't have a half marathon schedule with their dates entered. Everyone else, just come out for fresh air and good company.

Monday and Wednesday, Chocolate Racers do 8K and 10K -- but there will probably be folks doing more, or less.

Is anyone doing the Mercedes-Benz 10K this weekend? We have a willing cheering section, if we have walkers.

I was too quick with the birthday wishes for Jim last week, so here they are again, plus some equally hearty ones for Nishe. May they be merry.
That might just be it! Hope to see you, finally, on Saturday for my slow return to the Shore Things.

Walks: Easter Weekend & Wed. Apr. 11

Now that's what we're talking about!
Amazing race, how sweet the sound! Thanks to Margy and Rainer and all the helpful elves for making the fourth annual Shore Things race so special. Congratulations to Ruth and Ralph for your first-place finishes, and to Eileen and Bonnie – first recipients of the mid-pack and LBNL (last, but not least) awards! And thank you again to TKOs for the great brunch.

As this is a long weekend, we have some options. Saturday (which is also the Harry Rosen Spring Run-Off – good luck to those who are registered), we'll meet at our usual place and time for whatever distances you're training for.

Easter Monday, those with the day off might prefer to meet in the morning: Tim's 2 (at Gerrard and Victoria Park) traditionally at 9:30 am BUT Kathleen can join us if it's after 10 – how does a little extra shut-eye sound? Evening walkers, meet at Loblaws at 7 pm.

Wednesday, while some are training with Lee Scott of Wow, others will be meeting at Shoppers at 7 pm.

I've purposely left off the distances, as many are using different schedules now. Please declare your distance when you sign in.

Jim is our birthday boy this weekend. We wish him every happiness.

Happy Easter and Passover to all of you.
